The Board of Directors consists of independent and non-executive directors and serves as the governing body for our organization.
Tuul Galzagd is Director of the Eco Banking Department at XacBank and a banking professional with over 18 years of experience with financial institutions in Mongolia. She manages a range of projects that work with both environmental standards and the private sector to introduce energy-efficiency and clean energy to Ulaanbaatar. She has first hand experience researching energy efficient products such as efficient ger stoves as well as how to make low-carbon growth work. Her work on the Energy Efficient Product Distribution Program has allowed nearly 80% of ger households to purchase one or more subsidized energy efficient products.
Ganzorig Gombosuren is a former Supreme Court judge who served on Mongolia's highest court for eight years within his sixteen years of distinguished service in the judiciary. He is an experienced domestic criminal prosecutor in his home country and also has an extensive background in international criminal procedure as well as human rights. He is an alumni of legal schools such as the Washington College of Law, University of California Berkeley, Kubani State University and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Texas Wesleyan University of Law. Following his work on the Supreme Court and time abroad, Mr. Gombosuren returned to Mongolia where he became a legal advisor to the President of Mongolia and was awarded the Order of Polar Star for his service.
Born and raised in the Mongolian countryside Dorjderem Dugarsuren is a herder from Sukhbaatar province. In addition to many years of herding expreience and knowledge, he held a senior positions in his local herder community and in the local government. He deeply values the heritage and culture of Mongolia which has preserved for so long across so many generations. Dorjderem directly represents the people and ideals that Steppe and Hoof is trying to protect so his contribution as a board member is very important to us.
Anna Bowker is a highly qualified equine medicine veterinarian from South Africa who has worked around the world in a variety of professional practices. Anna has a keen interest in working horse welfare and owner education, as well as the mentoring of future veterinary students. She has worked with veterinary outreach and teaching clinics in South Africa, India, Morocco, Fiji, and Tanzania and is currently based in the UAE where she is the resident veterinarian for the presidential stables of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan. She is a veteran of the Mongol Derby having worked three years as a crew veterinarian and so has a deep connection to Mongolian horses, their owners and the traditional life on the Mongolian steppe.
